Erin Houchin highlights student achievement, disaster aid efforts, and manufacturing talks

Congresswoman Erin Houchin, who represents Indiana’s 9th district in the U.S. Congress, recently highlighted several developments involving her constituents and the broader community in Southern Indiana through a series of posts on social media.

On September 2, 2025, Houchin congratulated a local teacher and student for their participation in a national event. She wrote: "Congratulations to Mrs. Emily Lewellen and her student, Genevieve Laguna, from Brown County High School! They represented Indiana at the 2025 Young People’s Continental Congress in Philadelphia, joining 56 delegates from across the nation to celebrate the 250th anniversary of the https://t.co/UGAaFBGAoV".

The following day, September 3, she informed nonprofit organizations affected by recent severe weather events about available federal assistance: "Nonprofit organizations in Southern Indiana impacted by the March–April storms, tornadoes, and flooding may be eligible for SBA disaster relief loans. Later that same day, Houchin shared details from a visit with automotive suppliers in Columbus: "It was great to be in Columbus visiting @forviagroup_ and meeting with our automotive suppliers. Erin Houchin has served as the U.S. Representative for Indiana’s 9th District since 2023 after replacing Trey Hollingsworth; she previously served in the Indiana Senate between 2014 and 2022. Born in Salem, Indiana in 1976 and an alumna of Indiana University Bloomington with a Bachelor of Science degree, Houchin remains an active presence both locally and nationally through her work and communications with constituents.
