Congresswoman Erin Houchin, who represents Indiana’s 9th district in the U.S. Congress, shared updates on her recent activities and engagements through a series of posts on her official social media account.
On August 21, 2025, Houchin reflected on a personal encounter with Jason and Mandy Hughes following the death of their son Carson. She wrote, "Last year, I had the honor of meeting Jason and Mandy Hughes after the passing of their son, Carson, whose beautiful artwork won the Congressional Art Competition was displayed in the U.S. Capitol. They shared with me a #BeLikeCarson bracelet, and I’ve worn it every day since."
Later that same day, Houchin described a visit to Clark County Jail where she met with Sheriff Scottie Maples and his team. In her post dated August 21, 2025, she stated: "Had a great lunch with Sheriff Scottie Maples and his team at the Clark County Jail. We talked about the jail’s important role in housing ICE detainees, and Sheriff Maples shared how well ICE has worked with them. I’m grateful for his leadership and the dedication of his staff to"
On August 22, 2025, Houchin highlighted her participation in an event organized by Guardian Bikes in Seymour to mark Supply Chain Independence Day. She reported: "Last night, Guardian Bikes hosted Supply Chain Independence Day to celebrate their new U.S. frame manufacturing facility in Seymour. I joined CEO Brian Riley, Mark Cuban, and trade attorney Charles Benoit for a panel on tariffs, onshoring, and bringing jobs back to America."
Erin Houchin began serving as representative for Indiana's 9th district in Congress after succeeding Trey Hollingsworth in 2023 (she previously served as an Indiana state senator from 2014 to 2022). Born in Salem in 1976 and holding a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University Bloomington, she continues to reside there while fulfilling her congressional duties.
