Congresswoman Erin Houchin, who represents Indiana’s 9th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently used her social media platform to address issues of crime and law enforcement policy.
On August 11, 2025, Houchin posted on X: "Democrat-controlled Washington, D.C. is overrun with crime. President Trump is right to declare a crime emergency. It’s time to restore law and order in our nation’s capital! https://t.co/mIUI59dHqR".
Earlier that same day, she shared details about her meeting with local security professionals: "Met with Marshall Security & Investigations in Bloomington to talk about how the One Big Beautiful Bill Act eliminates taxes on overtime pay for law enforcement. Erin Houchin began serving in Congress in 2023 after replacing Trey Hollingsworth as representative for Indiana's 9th district. She previously served in the Indiana Senate from 2014 to 2022 and holds a degree from Indiana University Bloomington.
She was born in Salem, Indiana in 1976 and continues to reside there.
