Erin Houchin highlights local sports, tariffs policy, and firefighter legislation in recent posts

Congresswoman Erin Houchin, who represents Indiana’s 9th district in the U.S. Congress, has recently shared updates on social media regarding local sports achievements, trade policy, and legislative efforts to support first responders.

On August 5, 2025, Houchin expressed her support for a local softball team: "Cheering on Floyds Knobs as they take the field at the Little League Softball World Series! Representing the Central Region on this stage is an amazing accomplishment—Southern Indiana is behind you all the way! "

Two days later, on August 7, she commented on U.S. trade policy under former President Donald Trump: "Tariffs are a strategic tool to secure fair deals and level the playing field for American workers. President Trump is using our economic strength to put America first, and it’s working."

On August 8, Houchin highlighted legislative action aimed at supporting firefighters: "The Parkinson’s Protection for Fire Fighters Act was introduced to provide care for first responders who develop Parkinson’s from the hazards they face on the job. Erin Houchin has served in Congress since 2023 after succeeding Trey Hollingsworth. Before her current role, she represented her community in the Indiana Senate from 2014 to 2022. Born in Salem, Indiana in 1976, Houchin continues to reside there and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University Bloomington.
