Congresswoman Erin Houchin from Indiana's 9th District has reintroduced four legislative proposals aimed at enhancing transparency, accountability, and economic opportunity. These bills target key areas affecting students, workers, and retirees.
The Students’ Bill of Rights Act is designed to safeguard the First Amendment rights of college students. It aims to ensure that all voices are represented in academic settings by reinforcing free speech, religious liberty, and freedom of association. This measure seeks to protect students from ideological discrimination on campuses.
Another proposal, the Prioritizing Evidence for Workforce Development Act, focuses on federal workforce development funding. It emphasizes directing resources toward programs with proven effectiveness. The goal is to promote accountability and provide workers with necessary training and resources for success in the current economy.
The Hidden Fees Disclosure Act addresses transparency issues within the healthcare sector. It requires Pharmacy Benefit Managers (PBMs) to disclose hidden fees that contribute to increased prescription drug costs for Americans. This bill aims to inform patients and policymakers about the actual cost of prescriptions.
Lastly, the Retirement Proxy Protection Act is intended to safeguard retirees by ensuring financial advisors and proxy voters prioritize financial returns over political agendas when making investment decisions related to retirement plans.
"As lawmakers, we have a responsibility to enact policies that improve the lives of Americans, hold bad actors accountable, and ensure a strong economic future," stated Congresswoman Houchin. "These bills address key issues that impact students, workers, families, and retirees by increasing transparency, protecting investments, and making sure federal programs deliver results."
