Congresswoman Erin Houchin, representing Indiana's 9th district, has recently addressed several issues through her social media platform. Houchin, who succeeded Trey Hollingsworth in 2023, has been vocal about educational policies, community engagement, and gender-specific spaces.
On November 18, 2024, Houchin criticized the Department of Education for its handling of the FAFSA rollout. She stated: "The Department of Education not only delayed the FAFSA rollout last year but is already failing students again this year with another expected delay. The FAFSA Deadline Act sets a firm October 1 deadline to ensure Biden’s failures don’t become precedent."
Two days later, on November 20, she announced upcoming mobile office hours for her constituents. Her team would be available at specific locations: "Our team will be hosting mobile office hours tomorrow at the following locations: 10am-12pm @ Jackson Co. Courthouse; 1pm-3pm @ Bedford Stonegate Arts & Education Center."
Later that day, Houchin expressed her stance on gender-specific spaces in public facilities. She supported Speaker Johnson's actions regarding these matters: "Biological men have no place in women’s spaces such as locker rooms and bathrooms. I’m glad @SpeakerJohnson has taken a stand to protect the women here on Capitol Hill."
