Washington, D.C. (April 24, 2024) - Congresswoman Erin Houchin proudly announced today that two crucial bills she championed have successfully passed out of the Financial Services Committee. These bills address significant banking issues and aim to reform regulations.

One of the bills, as highlighted by Congresswoman Houchin, focuses on dismantling the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation's (FDIC) recent climate rule. The Congresswoman expressed her concerns, stating, "The FDIC should not be caught up in the left’s climate hysteria." She further emphasized the importance of focusing on sound risk management rather than getting entangled in climate-related matters.

The second bill, known as the Fostering the Use of Technology to Uphold Regulatory Effectiveness in Supervision (FUTURES) Act, was authored by Congresswoman Houchin in collaboration with Congressman Bill Foster and Congressman French Hill. This bipartisan legislation aims to modernize banking regulation through the utilization of technology. Congresswoman Houchin highlighted the significance of the FUTURES Act, stating, "The FUTURES Act harnesses technological advancements to streamline regulation and reduce burdens on banks and customers alike."

Congresswoman Houchin encourages her colleagues to support these legislative efforts, which are crucial for ensuring the safety and stability of the financial system.
