Congresswoman Erin Houchin has introduced four legislative proposals aimed at enhancing education, protecting national institutions from foreign influence, supporting families in need, and improving the foster care system. Each proposal demonstrates her focus on transparency and prioritizing American families.

Houchin emphasized her intention to "protect students, support families, and strengthen systems," stating, "These bills are focused on doing what’s right for the American people." She highlighted the importance of accountability and common sense, especially in ensuring taxpayer funds are not misused.

The proposed bills include the following measures:

1. The College Employment Accountability Act seeks to prevent colleges and universities from hiring illegal immigrants by denying them federal aid or funding and requires them to participate in the E-Verify program to better enforce immigration laws.

2. The Safeguarding American Education From Foreign Control Act aims to shield U.S. educational institutions by increasing transparency and imposing restrictions on foreign funding, thus preventing foreign nations from influencing academic content or policy.

3. The End-of-life Access to Supportive and Essential Care (E.A.S.E.) Act aims to provide better access for families to care options for terminally ill patients during end-of-life situations.

4. The Foster Care Tax Credit offers a federal tax credit to families that take in foster children, alleviating financial burdens and encouraging more families to participate in foster care.

Houchin stated, "These are practical, targeted bills that can make a meaningful difference in people’s lives." She affirmed her commitment to advocating for these issues in Washington, with the aim of supporting families both in Indiana and nationwide.
