3rd Generation Firefighter Sworn-In As Clarksville’s Newest Emergency Responder

The Clarksville Fire Department grew a bit larger Tuesday night as the Town Council welcomed the department’s newest firefighter.  Joshua Saulman was sworn-in with family, friends, and his new co-workers looking on.

Firefighter Saulman is a third generation firefighter and got his start at Harrison Township Fire Department as a junior firefighter in 2012.  After working with the Georgetown Fire Department, Saulman most recently served the residents of Clarksville’s fifth district with Tri-Township Fire Department.  He also served as a reserve firefighter for the Town of Clarksville.

Saulman’s swearing-in was extra special in that his father, Chief Jon Saulman, was given the honor of pinning the badge on his son.  Chief Saulman is currently in charge of the Harrison Township Fire Department in Corydon.  Joshua Saulman’s wife also participated by pinning insignia on his uniform.

After being sworn-in, Saulman recalled attending a public event in Clarksville as a child and getting a plastic helmet and coloring book from a group of Clarksville firefighters.  He told the crowd from that moment he knew he wanted to be a Clarksville Firefighter, and that he was extremely honored to have the opportunity to join the department.
