Public Meetings Scheduled To Detail Clarksville’s New Residential Rental Inspection Program
The Town of Clarksville is making big changes in hopes of improving the quality of life for residents who rent apartments and other residential properties. In April, the Town Council passed an ordinance creating the Town’s first-ever Residential Inspection Program.
All landlords who own properties in the Town of Clarksville will be required to register for the program, which is run by the Town’s Building Commissioner’s office. Inspectors will check things such as: plumbing, heating and air-conditioning, toilet facilities, hot water availability, windows and more. Single-family homes owned by a landlord would also be inspected.
As you can expect with any type of new inspection process, landlords and rental residents have many different questions about how the program will work. In order to clear up any confusion, the Town of Clarksville will be hosting two public information sessions to detail the purpose of the program and how it will operate. Landlords and tenants will also have the opportunity to ask questions about the program. Both information sessions will be the same, so those with questions need only to attend one of the events. However, all landlords are encouraged to attend at least one of the sessions.
Both sessions will be held at Clarksville’s Town Hall, located at 2000 Broadway Street. The first session will be held October 27, 2022 from 6:30pm-7:30pm. The second session will be held on November 10, 2022 from 6:30pm-7:30pm. Anyone with questions regarding these public information sessions can contact Code Enforcement Officer Kimberly Newby at knewby@townofclarksville.com.
