Scott County Sheriff's Office recently issued the following announcement.
Scott County Sheriff Jerry Goodin accepted an award on the Wave 3 Listens Television Program from Dave Yates of Kentuckiana Crime Stoppers, where Scott County was
recognized as a Safe Community Achievement Award recipient. The award presented reads as follows..."This Kentuckiana Safe Community Achievement Award is presented to
the Scott County, Indiana Sheriff's Office, Sheriff Jerry D. Goodin, in displaying an effort that goes above and beyond normal policing duties. The Scott County, Indiana Sheriff's
Office has noticeably reduced crime in their jurisdiction of responsibility creating a better quality of life for the citizens of Scott County, Indiana. The Scott County Indiana Sheriff's
Office efforts in partnering with Scott County Citizens and other community partners such as Kentuckiana Crime Stoppers has created a Community Oriented Policing model for
other agencies across the United States to follow to ensure a safe and secure community".
Sheriff Goodin was quick to add the following comments..."We appreciate Kentuckiana Crime Stoppers for recognizing Scott County's hard work and tireless effort by presenting us
with this award...as the Sheriff, I am proud to accept this award on behalf of all Scott County Citizens. The partnership between the Scott County Sheriff's Office and the citizens is
a "Community Policing model" for others to emulate, if they are interested in making a difference like we are here...the results of this partnership shows every day as you live within
or visit our neighborhoods. People feel safe because they are safe...the gratitude belongs to them, as our Sheriff's Office has now grown to more than 20,000 vigilant citizens who
see something they feel isn't right and then say something by reporting to us what they saw. That's exactly what community policing is supposed to be...community and the police
working together. This is another example of the Sheriff's Office and the community successfully making Scott County the safest place to live in America".
