Scott County Indiana Sheriff's Office recently issued the following announcement.
(For the Third Year in a Row the Scott County Jail Passes)
Scott County-Yesterday, Scott County Sheriff Jerry Goodin along with Jail Commander Doug Herald, proudly escorted Indiana Department of Corrections Executive, Jeff Groh as the annual state jail inspection was conducted at the Scott County Jail. Inspector Jeff Groh literally gave the Scott County Jail a “white glove inspection”. The Scott County Jail was standing tall and again passed with flying colors creating another positive announcement for Scott County. Sheriff Goodin stated, “I want the public to know just how hard our Jail Deputies, like our Law Enforcement Deputies, are working to become the best correctional officers in the State of Indiana. I am extremely pleased with their commitment and the pride they show everyday by maintaining the jail facility at a level unheard of in the past. Sheriff Goodin also gave huge accolades to the inmates at the jail who cleaned their occupied space to tip top inspection condition. As the Sheriff, I am proud to present this inspection passage to the citizens of Scott County. The Indiana State Jail Inspector, Jeff Groh stated, “When other counties ask me how to improve their Jails, I tell them to visit the Scott County Jail”.
Scott County residents need to know that this passage directly effects the cost of insurance that is paid by taxpayers for jail operations. This inspection passage will continue the savings to the taxpayers of Scott County.
*Media Note-Sheriff Goodin prioritized in house jail operations when he took over as Sheriff in 2019 and since then the Scott County Jail has passed three consecutive jail inspections.
