Kyle Nix is running for the Republican nomination to serve on the Harrison County Board of Commissioners representing District 1. The primary will be held on May 7.

According to his LinkedIn page, Nix currently serves as a member of the Harrison County Council, a position he has held since January 2015.

In a press release, RED PAC Chief Strategist Charlie Kolean endorsed Nix, listing him as a candidate that "shares our values of supporting private property rights, championing fiscal responsibility, and tirelessly working towards enhancing government transparency." Kolean said that Nix "[reflects] the conservative ideals that guide our efforts in rural economic development.”

Nix is also a co-owner, operations manager, and operator at S&M Nix, LLC, an excavation company founded by his parents in 2005. On the company's website, Nix notes that he began working there while he was a student at Purdue University. After graduating from Purdue in 2007 with a BS in Animal Science and an economics minor, Nix returned to the company to work there full-time.

According to his Facebook page, this past March, Nix received the Outstanding Service Award from the Purdue Extension Board and was also elected to a three-year term on the board. He and his wife Peyton have three children.

The Harrison County Board of Commissioners is responsible for executing acts legislated by the county council and managing everyday functions of the county government. The commission is made up of three members — one from each district — one of whom serves as president. Members are elected to four-year terms.
