Erin Houchin announces Medicaid reform bill and $14M funding for Indiana’s 9th district

Congresswoman Erin Houchin, who represents Indiana’s 9th district in the U.S. Congress, recently highlighted legislative initiatives and funding developments on her social media accounts.

On August 12, 2025, Houchin posted about a legislative proposal: "The One Big Beautiful Bill Act ends waste, fraud, and abuse in Medicaid and directs those savings to rural hospitals and patients who need it most." On the same day, she expressed gratitude for an appearance or event by stating, "Thank you for having me! https://t.co/MxCjHD4W1x"

The following day, August 13, 2025, Houchin announced progress in federal funding for her district: "Excited to announce that over $14 million in Community Project Funding for Indiana’s 9th District is moving forward in the House Appropriations process. Each year, local governments can submit requests for Community Project Funding through our office, giving communities the"

Houchin has served as the U.S. Representative for Indiana's 9th district since 2023 after succeeding Trey Hollingsworth. Before her tenure in Congress, she was a member of the Indiana Senate from 2014 to 2022. Born in Salem, Indiana in 1976 and currently residing there at age 46, Houchin holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University Bloomington.
