Congresswoman Erin Houchin, who has been serving Indiana's 9th district since 2023 after succeeding Trey Hollingsworth, shared several updates on social media recently. On June 14, 2025, Houchin announced the House of Representatives' decision to pass the first round of DOGE rescissions. She stated that this move cuts $9.4 billion in what she describes as "reckless, unnecessary spending," including funds from USAID. This decision was underscored by recent news that a USAID official had pleaded guilty in a $550 million bribery scheme. "This is exactly why we’re taking action," she commented.

Later that day, Houchin expressed her dismay over an incident in Minnesota involving political violence. She conveyed her thoughts and prayers for Senator John Hoffman and his wife Yvette's recovery and offered condolences to the families of Speaker Emerita Hortman and her husband. "Political violence has no place in this country," she emphasized.
