On June 10, 2025, Congresswoman Houchin emphasized the urgency of addressing the fentanyl crisis. She stated, "Fentanyl is one of the leading killers of our children, and we must do everything in our power to stop it. Tomorrow, the House must pass the HALT Fentanyl Act to give law enforcement the tools they need to get these deadly drugs off our streets and hold traffickers accountable."

Erin Houchin was born in Salem, Indiana in 1976 and currently resides there. She graduated from Indiana University Bloomington with a Bachelor of Science degree. Before joining Congress in 2023 after replacing Trey Hollingsworth as representative for Indiana's 9th District, she served in the Indiana Senate from 2014 to 2022.
