Today, Congresswoman Erin Houchin of Indiana's 9th District issued a statement following the U.S. House of Representatives' approval of the One Big, Beautiful Bill. According to Houchin, this legislation aligns with President Trump's America First agenda.
Houchin emphasized that the bill aims to benefit American families by eliminating taxes on tips and overtime and providing tax relief for seniors receiving Social Security. The bill also includes measures to enhance border security, increase deportations of criminal aliens, and boost American energy production.
The legislation seeks to protect Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security for vulnerable groups such as pregnant women, children, individuals with disabilities, and seniors. It plans to achieve this by ending taxpayer-funded benefits for illegal immigrants and addressing waste, fraud, and abuse within these programs.
Houchin criticized Democrats for allegedly misleading the public but expressed satisfaction that Republicans remained focused on their objectives. She stated: "Simply put—President Trump and House Republicans are keeping our promises by putting America First and, in doing so, will unlock a new golden age of prosperity for our country from sea to shining sea."
