Grenadiers Fall to Midway Saturday

The IU Southeast women's basketball team fell to Midway 73-47 on Saturday.

 Midway jumped out to a 9-2 lead in the first three minutes of the first quarter. Back-to-back threes by the Eagles forced a timeout by IU Southeast with the score 15-4 Midway. The Grenadiers trailed 26-12 after one.

 IU Southeast opened the second quarter on a 7-0 run to cut the Midway lead to 26-19. Midway responded with a 12-0 run to extend their lead to 19 at 38-19. The Grenadiers trailed 40-21 at halftime.

 The Grenadiers cut the lead to 14 at the beginning of the third quarter on a Sierra Graham three. A 7-0 Midway run extended the lead to 21 at 49-28.

 After two IU Southeast free throws made it 49-30, Midway used an 8-0 run to extend their lead to 57-30. Leah Miller scored three straight point to close the quarter, but IU Southeast found themselves down 57-33 after three.

 Midway's lead never fell below 20 points in the fourth quarter, and the Eagles would go on to win 73-47.

 Sierra Graham scored a game-high 15 points, going 5-10 from the field and a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line. Graham also grabbed a Grenadier-high nine rebounds. Leah Miller and Karly Sweeney scored nine points apiece. Abby Young scored six points, grabbed six rebounds and added two steals in the contest.
