Grenadiers Split Trip To Pittsburgh

Against Carlow on Thursday, the Grenadiers pulled away with a three-point barrage that was led by Brynna Blackburn. She hit six of the Grenadiers' 13 three-pointers and led IU Southeast with 21 points.

Lauren Lambdin had 15 points, nine rebounds and nine assists, Sierra Graham had 13 points and five rebounds, Leah Miller had 12 points and five assists and Jesse Ledgerwood had 11 points in the win.

The Grenadiers (11-4, 4-3 RSC) opened the game on a 17-6 run and did not look back, leading 25-14 after the first quarter.

IU Southeast shut down the Carlow offense in the second quarter, allowing just 13 points on 6-of-20 shooting from the field.

The Grenadiers led 47-27 at halftime.

Brynna Blackburn hit two three-pointers and Sierra Graham connected on one on consecutive possessions to extend the lead to 58-31 with eight minutes left in the third quarter.

IU Southeast shot 13-of-25 (52 percent) from three-point range in the game and held the Celtics to 17 percent shooting from behind-the-arc.

The Grenadiers scored 27 points off turnovers and used their speed to outscore Carlow 29-6 in fastbreak points.

Against Point Park on Friday, the Pioneers shut down the Grenadier offense and attacked IU Southeast in the paint. Point Park outscored IU Southeast 56-32 in the paint.

Point Park closed the first period on a 15-4 run to take a 25-11 lead.

After trailing 47-28 at halftime, IU Southeast began to chip away at the deficit and were able to cut the lead to 65-55 with 4:46 to play in the contest after a Lauren Lambdin layup.

But back-to-back baskets by Alexis Giles extended the lead back to 69-55.

Lambdin tried to keep IU Southeast in the game with 23 points and Karly Sweeney scored 13 off the bench.

Brynna Blackburn recorded her 100th career three-pointer in the game, only halfway through her second season.

The Grenadiers were outrebounded 51-38 and outscored 16-5 in second chance points.
