Grenadiers Defeat Campbellsville University - Harrodsburg 101-90
The IU Southeast men's basketball team defeated Campbellsville University – Harrodsburg 101-90 to cap off an undefeated first week of the season.
CU Harrodsburg took an 11-6 lead on four jump shots, three from behind the arc. Another three gave the Pioneers a 14-9 lead. An 8-0 run by IU Southeast gave the Grenadiers a 17-14 lead. The Pioneers took the lead back later in the first half on another three-point basket to make it 32-29.
With the score tied at 37-37, IU Southeast used a 7-0 run by Glenn Hill to take a 44-37 lead. After a Pioneer basket narrowed the lead to five, Lane Lauderbaugh scored five straight points to give the Grenadiers a 49-39 advantage. A three by Lauderbaugh sent IU Southeast into the half with a 52-42 lead.
Glenn Hill led the Grenadiers with 19 first half points on 6-10 shooting. Lane Lauderbaugh scored 15 first half points on 6-6 shooting. Anthony Wales Jr scored 10 first half points, and Jocobi Hendricks had five rebounds and six steals before halftime.
CU Harrodsburg used a 9-2 run to cut the Grenadier lead to 54-51. With a 61-58 lead, the Grenadiers used back-to-back threes by Glenn Hill to extend the lead back to nine. A quartet of free throws later in the half gave IU Southeast a 73-61 advantage.
Back-to-back layups by IU Southeast gave the Grenadiers a 91-74 lead. The Grenadiers took a 20-point lead following a jumper by Anthony Wales Jr. The Pioneers closed the game on a 9-0 run, but it was too little too late as the Grenadiers took the contest by a score of 101-90.
Glenn Hill led the Grenadiers with 27 points and eight rebounds. Lane Lauderbaugh scored a career-high 26 points on 11-13 shooting. Anthony Wales Jr was the third Grenadiers with at least 20 points, scoring 24 while adding three rebounds, three steals and four assists. Jocobi Hendricks added 11 points and eight steals.
The Grenadiers shot 57.8 percent from the field in the contest. IU Southeast went 21-25 from the free throw line and 6-16 from behind the arc. The Grenadiers outrebounded the Pioneers 31-24 in the contest.
IU Southeast (2-0) travels to Hanover College on Tuesday.
