FLOYD CENTRAL HIGH SCHOOL: ANNOUNCEMENTS THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 28TH

Calendar 01

Floyd Central High School recently issued the following announcement.

Happening now :

·       English ISTEP will start Monday, Rosters have been posted in the front windows and the counselors office. Please note your test location date and time!

·         The American Red Cross blood drive will be in the MPR on Friday, March 6. Sign ups begin Monday in the spine during lunch! You must be 16 years old to donate.

Fun Facts:

1.  Did you know what donating one unit of blood can save up to three human lives?

2.  Did you know that whole blood donation provides plasma, platelets, and red blood cells? Plasma is used to treat burn victims, platelets are used to treat cancer patients, and red blood cells are used to treat trauma and surgery patients, anemics, and organ transplant patients?

3.  Did you know that one fourth of the American Red Cross blood supply is used to treat cancer patients? More than likely, there is someone in your circle of friends/acquaintances who has cancer. Wouldn’t it be great if you increased their quality of life by donating blood?

4.  Donating blood takes about 15-20 minutes, plus time to eat a snack and make sure you feel well. Such a short amount of time for such huge benefits to others!

5.  Blood donors will learn their blood type and are able to donate once every 56 days! (If you do the math, that means you can donate up to six times per year and help save up to 18 lives PER YEAR!) GO YOU!!
