Sheriff’s deputies in Scott County have arrested several individuals on drug-related charges following recent patrols in Scottsburg. According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, the arrests reflect the department’s ongoing focus on addressing illegal drug activity.

On February 19, deputies stopped a vehicle on Cherry Street around 10:10 p.m. The driver, Amanda Goodin, 43, and her passenger, Debra Smith, 56, both from Scottsburg, were taken into custody after deputies found methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia during their investigation. Goodin faces charges including possession of methamphetamine, maintaining a common nuisance, and possession of paraphernalia. Smith was charged with dealing in methamphetamine over 10 grams, possession of methamphetamine over 10 grams, possession of marijuana, visiting a common nuisance, and possession of paraphernalia. Both remain at the Scott County Jail.

Two days later on February 21, another traffic stop led to the arrest of Bruce W. Napier, 67, also from Scottsburg. Deputies found methamphetamine and marijuana during the roadside investigation.

Sheriff Jerry Goodin commented on the arrests: “This is all about keeping the citizens of Scott County safe…what initially began as minor traffic offense investigations resulted in deputies making arrests for serious drug violations. Your deputies continue to work hard to keep you safe, and I am grateful for their efforts”.

The sheriff’s office emphasized that all individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
