Scott County Sheriff’s deputies arrested a man for drug possession following a patrol in rural Southeast Scott County on March 30.

The incident highlights the ongoing efforts by local law enforcement to address potential drug-related offenses and keep the community safe.

According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were approached by an out-of-county sheriff’s deputy who provided information about an unknown person operating a vehicle while possibly impaired. Deputies responded to South Hunter Road, where they located both the driver and the vehicle. After conducting a roadside investigation, officers identified the driver as Donald S. Nicholson, 39, of Madison, Indiana.

Nicholson was arrested for possession of methamphetamine, two counts of possession of a controlled substance, maintaining a common nuisance, and possession of paraphernalia. He was transported to the Scott County Jail without incident.

Sheriff Jerry Goodin said community members with information that could help make Scott County safer are encouraged to contact his office at (812)752-8400 or call (812)752-5550 anonymously. The Sheriff’s Office also reminded that “all subjects are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.”

Local authorities continue their vigilance in addressing suspected criminal activity and encourage public cooperation in these efforts.
