A motorcycle crash involving injuries occurred on March 21 along New Salem Road near East Calloway Road, according to local emergency services. Deputies responded to the scene where a Ram 3500 pickup and a Honda motorcycle were found damaged following the incident.

The crash is significant as it resulted in multiple injuries and required helicopter ambulance transport for one of those involved. Such incidents highlight ongoing road safety concerns for both motorists and motorcyclists.

Authorities identified the driver of the Ram as Aydin Eggleston, age 17, and the driver of the Honda motorcycle as Isaac Rangel, age 20; both are from Scottsburg, Indiana. According to statements from drivers and witnesses at the scene, Eggleston was traveling northbound on New Salem Road followed by four people riding motorcycles. She said she made a sudden reduction in speed to avoid hitting a dog that appeared to be entering or crossing the roadway. Rangel stated he quickly applied his brakes before impact, leaving about a 50-foot skid mark on the roadway but was unable to avoid colliding with the rear end of Eggleston’s vehicle.

Rangel sustained multiple injuries but they are not believed to be life-threatening. He was transported by helicopter ambulance to University of Louisville Hospital. Authorities confirmed that Rangel was wearing a helmet at the time of the accident.

The investigation into this crash is being led by K-9 Deputy Paul Reyling, Deputy Cody Pouw, and Deputy Dylan Johnson with assistance from members of Washington County Ambulance Service. The case remains under investigation.
