Congresswoman Erin Houchin of Indiana’s 9th Congressional District has appointed General Dale Lyles as the Chair of the district’s Military Academy Nomination Boards. General Lyles, who is retired from his position as Adjutant General of the Indiana National Guard, will also serve on the United States Military Academy (West Point) Nomination Panel.
“General Lyles has dedicated his life to service, and I’m proud to have him lead our military academy nomination process,” said Congresswoman Houchin. “His decades of military experience, leadership, and deep understanding of what it takes to lead at the highest levels of service will be an incredible asset in this role. I know that General Lyles will help identify and guide the next generation of leaders who will proudly represent Indiana and our country in uniform.”
In his new role, General Lyles will oversee the selection process for students seeking nominations to U.S. service academies such as West Point, the Naval Academy, the Air Force Academy, and the Merchant Marine Academy. The boards are responsible for reviewing applications and making recommendations to Congresswoman Houchin for her nominations.
