Congresswoman Erin Houchin, who has represented Indiana’s 9th district in the U.S. Congress since 2023, recently expressed her views on energy policy and financial priorities through a series of social media posts. In these communications, Houchin articulated her policy perspectives on national energy independence and fiscal management.

On April 9, 2025, Houchin emphasized the need for affordable energy and good-paying jobs, stating, “American families deserve affordable energy & good-paying jobs—not dependence on foreign nations. Let’s cut red tape, drill here at home, and secure our energy future.” This statement underscores her advocacy for domestic energy production to reduce reliance on foreign sources.

Later on the same day, Houchin shared her vision for the country’s financial roadmap via a budget resolution. She asserted, “The Budget Resolution is our roadmap to take this country back.” She outlined key goals including securing the border, cutting wasteful spending, delivering tax relief for families, and restoring the American economy, promoting an agenda that prioritizes national interests.

The following day, April 10, she reported the House’s action on advancing President Trump’s policy agenda. The congresswoman remarked, “Today, the House voted to advance President Trump’s America First agenda.” The agenda aims to secure borders, cut taxes, and reduce government waste while protecting programs such as Medicare and Social Security.

Erin Houchin’s involvement in Congress began after replacing Trey Hollingsworth in 2023. Prior to this, she represented Indiana’s 47th district in the state senate from 2014 until 2022. Born in Salem, Indiana, she earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana University, Bloomington.
